LeMans
Introduced in 1960, the Tempest and higher-spec LeMans became a platform for experimentation by chief engineer John DeLorean, who incorporated the Chevy Corvair’s independent rear suspension and transaxle and developed the Super Duty 421 drag racing specials. After 1964, the model names applied to the mid-sized Y-Platform, which birthed the legendary GTO.
